Rabbits

Rendezvous Farm raises Californian and New Zealand rabbits.  They are a popular meat breed  and also make terrific pets.  Our rabbits are raised in pens off the ground to protect them from Lyme Disease carrying ticks, mites, fleas, worms and other parasites as well as predators.  They are fed regular rabbit pellets only.  They are never given added hormones, steroids or antibiotics.  This manner of raising rabbits provides very healthy rabbits.  In 35 years of raising rabbits we have never had a disease or serious health problem.   Under prime breeding conditions, each female is bred three or four times each year.  Each breeding produces a litter of five to nine young.

At approximately 10 weeks of age, nearly four pound live rabbits are processed and sold fresh for a couple of days as approximately two pound fryers.  Those not sold fresh are packaged in vacuum sealed bags and frozen.  NOTE:  To meet VDACS requirements, rabbits are sold live, by weight, and then processed at our VDACS approved processing facility for a minimal processing fee.  Since Rendezvous Farm is a VDACS approved processing facility, retail stores and restaurants are allowed to purchase our products for resale.
